ESIA Guidelines for Municipal Solid Waste Management Projects

Introduction
This guideline identifies the main elements to be addressed when preparing an Environmental Social Impact Assessment ESIA for a proposed project related to the construction (or significant expansion) and operation of Municipal Solid Waste MSW facilities.
The guideline has been specifically prepared for the following MSW facilities:
Transfer Stations (TS) (including collection process).
Composting/Mechanical-Biological Treatment (MBT) treatment facilities. This version of the guideline does not include Incineration as a treatment option.
Sanitary Landfills. This version of the guideline (2018) does not include Incineration as a treatment option.
